Wise Family Cemetery

The Wise Family Cemetery is located in Chesconessex, Va., a short drive from the Onley Farm, the plantation and home of one of just two governors of Virginia from the Eastern Shore, Henry A. Wise. The 50-foot-by-50-foot plat is enclosed by a brick wall and a wrought-iron gate. Literary quotations are on marble slabs, and memorial plaques are on the inside of the wall. Gravestones are arranged in four rows; some date to the late 17th century. The most recent is from 2017.
