research services
Research is defined as the collection, assembly, or extraction of data or information from records, or the analysis of information to provide a report. Our research library and staff can provide many services including object-viewing appointments, fee-based research appointments, and general support. We offer a robust collection of research resources including genealogical records, property and business records, and photographs.
Due to the variety of resource material in our collection as well as limited staff resources, a personal visit is strongly encouraged. You can schedule an appointment to visit our collections in person by contacting us at 757.787.8012 or emailing collections@shorehistory.org.
Our research service cannot, in general, exceed one hour of investigation, and successful results cannot be guaranteed. Inquiries are answered in the order they are received. Please allow three to four weeks from receipt of payment for results. For best results, please provide as much information as possible including names of people or locations as well as dates of occurrence.
